Cemetery Staff Take Action to Protect Hedgehogs
Due to its peaceful and quiet nature, one of our sites which sees a lot of wildlife is Thornbury Cemetery. Earlier this year, we helped the British Hedgehog Society protect more native British wildlife by talking to our cemetery staff about what they can do to make sure our cemetery is a safe space for hedgehogs. This included placing stickers on our strimming equipment to remind them to check long grass for wildlife before cutting, as this provides habitats for sleepy hedgehogs starting at this time of year to gather materials to make nests to hibernate in. It was a small but important thing that could make a big difference to keep our littlest, prickly residents safe!
