Council and Committee Meetings
Members of the public are welcome to attend all meetings of the Council and its committees.
Meetings are held in the Council Chamber in the Town Hall, High Street, Thornbury, Bristol, BS35 2AR. Times are as per the table above.
You do not need to inform us of your attendance and may simply show up on the day. If you wish to address the Council, you will usually be invited to do so towards the beginning of the meeting, unless the matter relates to an agenda item later on. If you wish to speak on an agenda item later in the evening, you should declare this at the start. We can usually accommodate requests to use an overhead projector for slide presentations, but ask that you let us know in advance if you wish to use our equipment, so we can make sure it is set up the way it needs to be. The time limit for each individual to speak is 10 minutes, with a maximum of 20 minutes allowed for public participation so that council business can be carried out.
If you don’t want to speak and simply wish to sit and listen, that is fine and you are welcome to do so.
Councillor Surgeries
Surgeries are held on the last Saturday of each month between 10:30am and 12pm, at the Town Hall. They are attended by a rotating schedule of Councillors, of which 2 or 3 will typically attend each session. This is your opportunity to discuss any issues or concerns you have regarding your town and local environment, or simply drop by for a chat about what the Council are doing and keep in touch with us. You don’t need to make an appointment and can simply turn up.
Please note surgeries are currently postponed until further notice, due to Covid-19
