News released by South Gloucestershire Council 04.07.23

Yesterday, we announced the special arrangements we have made for extra deposit points of recycling and food waste at a number of locations across the district while waste service disruption continues due to the current industrial dispute between Unite members and their employer SUEZ.
Recycling, food waste, garden waste and extra household waste (if it will not fit in your black bin) can be taken to the Sort It centres, seven days a week:
  • Yate Sort It centre 8am – 4.30pm.
  • Mangotsfield Sort It centre 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Thornbury Sort It centre 8:30am – 4:30pm
Recycling and food waste (but not garden waste) can be taken to four additional locations every weekday 8am – 2pm:
  • Stoke Gifford Park and Ride (Parkway station) – Hunts Ground Road, BS34 8XX
  • Lyde Green Park and Ride – Willowherb Road, BS16 7GG
  • Page Road short stay car park Staple Hill – Page Road, BS16 4NE
  • SGC North Way site, Filton – BS34 7QG
Recycling (cardboard, paper, glass, cans and plastic) can be deposited in recycling skips (bring banks) 24/7 at:
  • Warmley community centre car park, 20 Deanery Road, Bristol BS15 9JB – operational now
  • The Batch community centre car park, 8a Park Rd, Barrs Court, Warmley, Bristol BS30 8EB – operational from midday today
We are working with the staff Suez has available, to provide the best level of service possible under the circumstances.
Black bin collections continue to be prioritised to ensure the disposal of waste such as personal hygiene items, medical waste, nappy sacks and pet waste.
Please put your black bin out on your normal scheduled collection day. Please do not put any other containers out.
Thank you for your cooperation at this difficult time. For further information please visit https://orlo.uk/Waste_Service_Disruption_uu7TL and download our FAQ document.
