Heritage Trail
A guided walk of historic Thornbury. Follow markers on the pavement number one starts outside the Town Hall. Collect a booklet from the Town Hall to help you with your tour.
Church
St Mary the Virgin is the parish church with its magnificent 130 foot medieval tower, which is a prominent feature especially when floodlit at night.
Castle
Work on the castle was started in 1511 by Edward Stafford, 3 rd Duke of Buckinghamshire but the castle was never completed and later was used by Henry VIII with Anne Boleyn and Mary Tudor.Today it is an exclusive hotel but still remains one of the most imposing Tudor structures in England .
The Parish Pump
The parish pump with its distinctive wrought-iron railings, canopy and direction sign to Gloucester standing at the Plain, replaces the original pump which was removed amid much controversy during the 1920's.
MacLaine Memorial
A drinking fountain in memory of Lieutenant Hector Maclaine, a local man who was prominent in the protection of the British in India from the Russian and Afghans in 1880
